A comb pick is a lockpicking tool designed to pick pin-tumbler locks by moving all pin stacks completely above the shear line, leaving no obstructions to prevent rotation of the plug.
Balanced pin stacks are used to prevent this technique. In addition, the use of screwed or riveted chamber casings prevent forced removal of the chamber casing.
Comb picks may either compress springs or forcibly remove poorly fastened chamber casings to allow springs and pins to be moved further.
Comb Picks exploit a very simple vulnerability in some padlocks. The technique is simple and the comb pick both picks the lock and turns it to open it.
Basically, some padlocks allow you to push both pins out of the plug, meaning there's nothing obstructing the plug from turning. Comb Picks, when lined up with the pins, allow you to perform this moving of the pins out of the plug and then turn the comb pick to open the lock.
Not all padlocks are vulnerable to this technique, but when they are, the comb picks work as fast as a key!

Waited to give a review until I played with the set a bit. Overall better quality than I expected, so I give it a better review than I might have on first glance. Too many simple hooks, and I really would have expected fewer in favor of a better variety of rakes. Some are just too thick for most key ways. Tension wrenches are too thick and long, and I'm not really sure are of any practical use. Interesting assortment of practice locks. The mix of different types is interesting, but haven't figured out yet what they are yet. Not really sure they were a good investment.
